Goodbye Finlay ….

Many of you are already aware that our beloved Finlay lost his fight with Bladder Cancer on Tuesday 21st May 2013. He was 10 years, 3 months and 1 week.

Finlay deserved something more than the small paragraph I posted on Facebook, but my emotions were/are still too raw. You, my good friends, were asking about him and it was all I could do to get that little post onto Facebook to let you know of his passing.

I discovered the following video posted onto my facebook timeline the following morning. A very dear friend had taken the pain and anguish away from me and produced this, the most fitting tribute to the bestest little lad. It is priceless. I shall cherish this for the rest of my life.

Thank you Ruffles de Scottie, Munchkin de Scottie and your human staff for this – you will always be remembered.

Have you had a kindness shown? Pass it on; ‘Twas not given for thee alone, Pass it on; Let it travel down the years, Let it wipe another’s tears, ‘Til in Heaven the deed appears – Pass it on.

  1. So sorry to hear of Finlay’s passing. Having lost our Miss Maggie his past Feb I can understand the emotions. We had Maggie cremated and her ashes on in a urn next to a couple of photo’s of her and a small Scottie Sandicast statue under a lamp on a table in our living room. We also created a shadow box with her collar, ID tag, paw cast and a couple of pictures which rests on the mantle above our fireplace. I still find myself saying goodnight to her each night as I go to bed and miss waking up to find her draped over the top of my head on the pillow or with her muzzle next to my nose beside me. Time may soften the blow but the memories will remain forever. God Bless.

    • The morning’s that are hard for me too. He always slept on our bed and if I stayed in bed too long, he would walk up me and rest on my chest, or if my arm was outside the duvet he was nudge and nudge and nudge until his head was under my hand – it was probably only because he wanted his breakfast! His whole absence is gonna take some getting used to. I’m awaiting the return of his ashes, which is ok as I’m still deciding where he’ll be placed. Oh boy! they really tear up our hearts don’t they.

  2. My heart is breaking for you. I lost my beloved scottie, Barkley, to bladder cancer as well. Finley, Barkley, and all their friends are running in the wind.

    • The bitter/sweet feeling of knowing that he is no longer in pain, coupled with the fact he is no longer hear is overwhelming. Finlay was my inspiration for setting up this Health Network – his fight is over, now mine continues in earnest. This is for Finlay, Barkley and all the other scotties lost to bladder cancer – one day we might just beat it!

  3. A truly moving, heart-breaking video — R.I.P. sweet scottie boy. Condolences and prayers to your scottie and human clan. Anita Bergen
