Tasty treats for your little treasured Terrier (of course all other breed will like them as well!)
- 250g (9oz) chicken livers
- 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
- 100ml (3fl oz) buttermilk
- 250g (9oz) wholegrain flour
Chop the liver very finely, then stir in the sunflower oil and buttermilk. Add flour and knead all ingredients together to make a smooth dough. Cover dough and place in fridge to rest for 30 minutes.
On a floured surface roll out dough to about 1cm (half inch) thick. Cut into preferred shape and place on baking sheet covered with baking parchment.
Bake the snacks at 180°C (350°F) (with fan) for 30 minutes. Turn off oven and let the snacks dry in the over for another hour. Store in a biscuit tin. The snacks will keep for about 2 weeks.
We added slightly more flour to the mix, as the dough was very sticky and not very dough like! So you may need to experiment. We also noted that the cooking time needed to be increased, so when we made the 2nd batch we increased the time to 50 minutes. This made the biscuits much harder and more biscuit like.
So go on, have a try, but remember you might need to experiment a little. Also make sure you dog is going to like them, you may need to check with your vet first!
